Gwalior Gets Its Youngest Author

June 23, 2010

Bharat Agarwal, who hails from Gwalior has come up with his debut novel – Love, Life and Ambition. The book is inspired from his own life. We got a chance to interview him.

India News: Congratulation for becoming an author at such a young age!
Bharat Agarwal: Thank you.

India News: Please tell our readers about the making of your book.
Bharat: it all started when I went to Chandigarh in Jun 2008. I went there to do my industrial training but only writing I could do. And it all happened when someone told me about Chetan’s latest book, 3 mistakes of my life. I didn’t know anything about his book, not about him either. But I got a sudden spark in me and I started finding about Chetan Bhagat impatiently, as if I were writing his biography. And later I got my aim, too, to be a prolific writer. I quickly got myself a register and pen, as I didn’t have laptop or computer, to write whatever was going through my mind that time. Not so terrific was I writing that time, but I was trying my best to be much innovative as never before. My company helped me write as much as possible, though they never knew what I was doing with their lab computers. They would always ask me about my register which I always carried with me to the company, but I never told them the truth.
Despite writing my script vigorously, I was unhappy as I was unable to give the desired and expected time to my imagined characters. Most of the times, I had to lock myself somewhere to ponder over them well. Schedule of classes, tests, semester examinations, social networking among peers, looking for jobs via sites like freshers.com, preparing for PO examinations like ICICI and then my own book, I had so much and I felt as if I was trapped in a potent mixture of being a Biotechnologist (B-tech) and a writer in unison. But a message of not getting placed in companies got me a heartfelt relief. As companies were not coming to my campus, my juniors, with my batch-mates, went on an aggressive strike. I was told to stand at the front side of this revolutionary act, but I preferred to be at my room to complete my pending script. That day, I was happy more like anyone else and had 8 cups of Nescafe while I returned to my room, along the way, I just thought I was so fortunate to have a recession. I thanked Lehman brothers. I reckoned, again, maybe I was the only who was not affected by the disease named recession. Strike went on for around 2-months, and I was at my room all along. However, indispensable portions were completed by the end of the strike, which lasted till May, and rest was completed, too, by the end of the semester, which lasted till mid-June.
Before I could leave my college in June, I thanked all my friends, who gave me moral support and did internal-marketing too, I thanked my landlord, who didn’t disturb me for rent, I thanked my caterer, who provided me food, and kissed my girlfriend, who always kept me gratified.

India News: Tell us something about the book.
Bharat: Love, life and ambition is all about a magical boy, Ayushman, who has been sent to Scindia School at a very tender age. But he is Ayushman by his name only, in real, his real ambition is to unplug Albert Einstein’s theory of relativity, E=mc2. His potency is unmatchable and he, alone, is enough to daunt anyone.
Love, Life and Ambition tells, “While doing tough examinations on the speed of pendulum, analyzing structures of DNA & RNA, solving the convoluted chemical formulas, in labs, scientists can even fall in love and can go to any extent to get their conclusions right.

India News: So do you plan to become a full-time writer?
Bharat: I have not thought about it. Maybe, it happens!

India News: Thanks for talking to us. All the best!
Bharat: Thank you.
